Modification and refurbishment of the Dominikuszentrum, Munich

The Dominikuszentrum is a Catholic outreach centre located in the district of Nordheide in the München-Freimann deanery. Completed in 2008, the centre takes the form of a single structural entity comprising a chapel, a clergy house, a Caritas advice centre with offices and consultation rooms, a children’s day care centre with one crèche group and two nursery school groups, a youth centre and an apartment. Despite being characterised by an above-average rate of wear and tear, no programmes of comprehensive refurbishment or maintenance have been carried out at the building since its completion. A package of measures designed to preserve and ensure the safe operation of the building is therefore required. In addition, a combination of new requirements defined by the operator in connection with amended or entirely new usage concepts and insights gained during the operation and maintenance of the building to date necessitates a variety of modifications such as the groundwater-assisted cooling of structural members.

The budget for the planned modification work stands at €2.45 million. Starting in August 2023, Kaiser Baucontrol (Munich office) will be responsible for project management from AHO Phase 2 onwards in accordance with our existing framework contract with the Archdiocese of Munich and Freising.
