A former Robotron site in Leipzig was selected as the location of this new office building for the Development Bank of Saxony. One of its most striking features is the so-called “forum” – a garden-like landscape of 159 steles of approx. 20 m in height and various diameters. The steles provide protection from the sun and shape the spaces around and between them, with some also used to extract smoke from the underground car park. Another 92 steles have been arranged throughout the L-shaped interior of the five-storey building, which also features an underground car park.
Designed by the London-based firm of architects ACME, the futuristic office building is rounded off by a 121-seater auditorium that will also be available for public events.
The Development Bank of Saxony was originally based in Dresden but has now relocated to its impressive new premises in Leipzig, which offer space for around 500 employees. Sustainability played a key role in the planning of the project.
