The project led to the creation of a new furniture centre operated by the Krieger group. The centre consists of two retail outlets – Höffner and Sconto – as well as an adjoining high-bay warehouse.
The centre comprised a gross floor area of approx. 80,000 m² upon completion, with the Höffner unit alone boasting 40,000 m² of retail space when it opened on schedule in the third quarter of 2021.
The Höffner store stands on around 750 driven piles due to the unfavourable nature of the ground beneath it. Around another 1,300 displacement piles were driven for the warehouse and the adjacent Sconto store. The delays caused as a result of the use of these special types of foundation were offset by optimising other construction processes.
