Saxon State Parliament – refurbishment and extension

Located close to Dresden’s historic city centre and the River Elbe, the Saxon State Parliament is the seat of the parliament of the Free State of Saxony and comprises an older and a newer section.

The older section is listed as a cultural monument in the city of Dresden’s register of protected monuments. The newer section houses the debating chamber, the public gallery (in the Elbe-side wing), offices (in the Packhof wing) and the so-called “bridge”.

The project is characterised by an extremely high level of security and secrecy, with consultation with the Saxon intelligence service (LfV Sachsen) and the Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) required. Compliance with the preservation orders placed on the older building is also essential.
