We are currently overseeing one of the most spectacular elements of Hamburg’s ambitious HafenCity development project: The construction of two ring-shaped multi-storey residential buildings with inner courtyards in the Strandkai quarter. The Bow – a residential building with 147 exclusive rental apartments – is taking shape at the tip of the quay. The second of the two residential complexes is being erected on behalf of three Hamburg-based housing cooperatives (BVE – Bauverein der Elbgemeinden, Hansa Baugenossenschaft and Baugenossenschaft Bergedorf Bille).
The two buildings are supplemented by two luxury high-rise apartment buildings – The Crown and FiftyNine – comprising 75 and 76 condominiums respectively. The overall ensemble is rounded off by commercial units on the ground floor of each building.
All four buildings are connected by a shared flood-proof, two-storey basement that extends across the entire site. Among other uses, the lowest level houses an underground car park with around 400 parking spaces as well as various essential plant rooms and ancillary spaces.
