The Dresden Chamber of Trades and Crafts is in the process of modernising and rationalising its training premises. The project includes the construction of a modern education centre – the Campus Bildungszentrum Handwerk – on a roughly 20,500 m² plot at the Chamber’s main site in Dresden.
The variety of spaces housed within the approx. 7,400 m² of usable area created within the new building include fully equipped workshops for building services, metalwork and welding, all of which are located in close proximity to the corresponding teaching and training rooms. The centre also features offices, a demonstration space used by the Energy Efficiency Centre for Buildings, modern conference rooms and a total of 162 parking spaces.
The construction project saw the building split into two subsections:
Subsection 1: Education centre for metalwork, building services and welding, centre of excellence for energy efficiency/renewable energies
Subsection 2: Conference space and offices
The project was characterised by strict delineation between subsidised and non-subsidised measures and the awarding of contracts to a total of 64 contractors.
